From the Manufacturer The "AKATSUKI" Venus probe (24th science satellite PLANET-C) was launched on May 21, 2010 from the Tanegashima Space Center. Its primary objective was to collect climate data from Venus. It failed at its first orbit insertion attempt, but is still soaring through space, awaiting the opportunity for a second orbit insertion several years from now. The compact solar-sail test spacecraft "IKAROS" was launched together wih AKATSUKI. it will carry out a variety of test related to the use of "Solar-sail" technology, which uses solar light as a means of propulsion, AKATSUKI and IKAROS, both made in Japan, are headed to venus to help unravel the mysteries of the universe. This is a highly detailed plastic model kit of the AKATSUKI and IKAROS.
